Ante Post Betting
When you place a bet on a race long before the race take
places this is know as Ante Post Betting. The reason behind
doing this is that you can get fantastic odds which will no
doubt shorten the nearer the race gets. Many of the big
races have the prices set for each horse long before the
race is run. Getting in early enough will allow you to make
more money with a win than would otherwise have been
possible - provided that the odds don't go the wrong way
since making the bet.
The big problem with ante post betting is that you could
easily lose your bet if the horse is withdrawn from the
race. If the horse is withdrawn just before the race, or the
horse refuses to get into the stalls then it might be
possible to get some of your stake money back using the
Tattersalls rule 4.
